The Kingston Housing Authority (KHA) welcomes you to our community. The Kingston Housing Authority provides homes for low-income City of Kingston Families and is an organization with a proud history and enviable reputation. In 1948 its dream of quality, affordable housing for area citizens was formalized. In 1953, it was put into action with the opening of Colonial Gardens. Over the years, hundreds of apartment were constructed and have provided the foundations for family and elderly communities around Kingston. Kingston Housing Authority Achieves High Performer Status in SEMAP Assessment Kingston, NY – January 16, 2025
The Kingston Housing Authority is proud to announce that it has been awarded a score of 96% in the Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP), earning the prestigious rating of HIGH performer. This significant achievement underscores the Authority's dedication to excellence in administering the Section 8 voucher program.
SEMAP, established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), enables HUD to better manage the Section 8 voucher program by identifying the capabilities and deficiencies of Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) in program administration. The Kingston Housing Authority's high score reflects its strong performance and commitment to providing quality housing assistance to the Kingston community. "This is not an easy feat," said Harolda Wilcox, Executive Director of the Kingston Housing Authority. "Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that we meet and exceed the standards set by HUD. This recognition is a testament to our dedication and the positive impact we strive to make in the lives of many in our community." The Kingston Housing Authority's success in the SEMAP assessment highlights its effective management practices and its ability to deliver essential services to those in need.
